Watch Marines Rush Toward Burning Navy Yard Building (Video)

Marines saw smoke pouring from an apartment building that housed elderly veterans and leaped into action.

WASHINGTON, DC -- The fire that raced through a Navy Yard apartment building housing elderly veterans last week didn't claim any lives, but it could have been a lot worse if not for the quick actions of the Marines stationed there.

Fox 5 DC estimates that about 100 Marines ran to the assistance of senior citizens who needed help evacuating the Arthur Capper Senior Building, and you can watch remarkable new video of their heroics below.

A previous video also showed Marines in plainclothes pushing wheelchairs toward the burning building.

Four people reportedly were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

In an odd twist, authorities found a man inside the building five days after the fire. He was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to NBC 4.
