Christmas, the birth of Christ, the Nativity of our Lord, is the reason for this season. Even those who simply say "happy holidays" may not realize it, but the word holiday is a contraction of the words "holy days" - meaning the holiday days of the Christian calendar that includes the Christmas season as well as Easter and more.
Every family, every person, experiences a level of drama. Baby Jesus and his family did too. There was no room for Joseph and Mary in the inn, so they stayed in a stable. Jesus was born not in a palace like the royal God of the Universe might be imagined to be born. Instead, Jesus was born in a stable where the poorest and lowest at that times, the shepherds, came to great him with angels singing glory to God on High.
