Substitute Teacher ‘Drunker Than Cooter Brown’ Arrested For DUI At School: Polk Sheriff

A subtitute teacher was arrested for DUI in the parking lot of a school in Lake Alfred, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

LAKE ALFRED, FL — A subtitute teacher was arrested Tuesday morning for driving under the influence in a school parking lot, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

A deputy assigned to Lake Alfred Polytech as a school resource officer stopped Micha Alan Dyal, 44, of Haines City as he was trying to back out of his parking space.

During a field sobriety test, Dyal “showed multiple obvious signs of impairment, including the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath,” the sheriff’s office said.

He was arrested and brought to the PCSO processing center, where he was charged with DUI.

“This substitute teacher was drunker than Cooter Brown at school while he was supposed to be teaching our children. We gave him an education when we took him to jail,” Sheriff Grady Judd said.

Polk County Public Schools said in a statement, “We commend our school staff for noticing that something was off, and not allowing this individual to proceed to the classroom … What a terrible decision and unacceptable behavior from someone working on a campus. This person will no longer have any involvement with PCPS.”
