“There is a Hero in All of Us”-Bobby Charles ex-Ast Secretary of State
"Nailing Jello to the Wall is Hard," said Robert Charles to AMAC members, adding: "Washington, D.C. is a World of Mirrors and Deception."

Seniors are often among the most-engaged groups in U.S. politics. Millions of AARP members might be shocked to learn that they are part of a left-leaning organization. According to InfluenceWatch: AARP, formerly the American Association of Retired Persons, is a lobbying group that engages in lobbying at the state, local, and federal level on a range of issues affecting older adults. AARP also has extensive business interests, including in health insurance and brand licensing. 1 AARP claims 38 million members, making it the largest interest group in America. 2 AARP is generally considered to be left-of-center. 34”
With that in mind, untold millions in AARP are likely to be independents, conservatives, or Republicans. They may or may not know that they are supporting an organization that is arguably working at times against their own interests. Speaking solely for myself, about 3 years ago, I started to look for an alternative to AARP. While there are other groups that do something similar, after doing my research, what I personally settled on was AMAC.us.
Per their website: "The Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) is here to protect your interests, and to offer an alternative perspective on how to best solve the problems seniors face today."

Per InfluenceWatch: "The Association of Mature American Citizens, also known as AMAC, is a right-leaning organization that represents Americans who are 50-plus. 5 It regularly presents itself as a conservative-leaning rival to the more left-leaning AARP and other 50-plus organizations. 6
AMAC offers members benefits such as roadside assistance, retail and restaurant discounts, and other benefits and savings opportunities. 7"

With that in mind, and stressing again that I don't work for them or speak for them, let me add that per some sources at AMAC, you don't have to be 50 years old to join the organization.
I've attended several AMAC events here in Florida in recent years. We have routinely attended these as a family. My experience has been that the leadership and members are 'pro-faith, family and flag.' These are individuals who are comfortable with loving their country, knowing that their are problems. In fact, they are members of AMAC often because they know their are problems that need to be fixed and they want an advocate for their views in Washington, D.C.
During a virtual meeting today, AMAC featured Robert B. "Bobby" Charles, J.D. As I listened to Charles speaking, being impressed, I used the chat box and suggested that what he was saying be shared via a YouTube video. If the man was running for Congress, I'd vote for him. Charles was smooth, articulate, and comfortable in his own skin. He didn't need a teleprompter or script.
He didn't need a teleprompter or script. He came off as genuine.
I'm guilty of being impatient at times. I didn't want to wait days or weeks to see if AMAC will produce a video of what he shared with members like myself today. So, I went to YouTube, and found two videos of Charles from mainstream media interviews.
The first of the two videos I found is the one below, posted 4 months ago.
Robert Charles recounts past calls with Biden: He's not the same man that he was.
About a year ago, Charles said the following. In the video above, he was sharing some thoughts on Joe Biden (D), because he interacted with Biden personally on several occasions. As you watch this next video, keep in mind that while AMAC is national, it is based here in Florida.
Robert Charles Talks Carrying the Torch on American Sunrise
The last I checked, there are about 7,700 AMAC members in the 18th Congressional District here in FL. Per DataUSA, there are about 781,000 people living in this district. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that there aren't 10 times as many AMAC members here as there are. That said, if more people knew about and understood the group and its benefits, I won’t be surprised if that total membership grows.
Having noted the numbers, shared some backstories, and sources, let's note that 7,700 members is enough to swing this or that race in an election. AMAC has made a difference at the state and national level on several issues. More on that another time.

In fairness to AARP, I have found some of their research to be of interest. I'll plan to share a post on a specific example - affordable housing - soon. While I didn't agree with every aspect of that AARP report, it was overall pretty good. That said, in my experience, InfluenceWatch is correct. AARP are left-leaning. By contrast, AMAC.us is center-right.
We are entering a potentially exciting time in our state and for America. There is hard work ahead, to be sure. In case you didn't notice, the 2026 midterm election and the race for 2028 are already underway. Democrats are jocking for position to lead their party after Kamala Harris (D) loss. While some are calling it a landslide, that in my view is going too far. The election was, if anything, far too close. The reasons the races were as close as they are include big-tech and big-media bias.

ICYMI: the article below dives into some of that big tech, big media influence. But in a planned future article, we'll go more deeply into the stunning power of Google and Facebook, among others.

Millions of us prayed for the kind of election outcome that occurred last week. But this is only a start.

My younger (and better looking!) bride and I have a teenage son. He and I may sit down during an evening and watch 45 minutes to an hour or so of some movie or video program. I want him to be ready for the world as it is. We recently watched Secret State. He enjoyed it, but more important, as smart as he is, he learned from it. Thank you, Lord, because that was part of the goal.

Groups like AMAC are necessary for recovering the American Dream. Good local churches are critical in that process. Getting like-minded souls into the same room, auditorium, or place of worship is priceless.
“There is a Hero in All of Us," said Bobby Charles during the AMAC conference call today. “Nailing Jello to the Wall is Hard,” Charles shared. He added: “Washington, D.C. is a World of Mirrors and Deception.”
Charles is both insightful and sadly correct. But that doesn't mean that we have to accept the status quo. He and AMAC members don't think this is how it has to be.
This election was the start of a process of reclaiming the promise of America for all of our citizens.
There are other issues related to top concerns for Americans, including correcting the so-called "rigged system" covered in this series. See select pre- and post-election posts that follow to learn more.
