Florida awards $9M to Pensacola for Navy ship module facilities at port (dredgewire.com) — Pensacola is set to receive $9 million from Florida's Job Growth Grant Fund to build two Navy ship module manufacturing facilities at the Port of Pensacola. State and city officials say the project could add about 400,000 square feet of industrial space and an estimated 2,000 shipbuilding and maritime jobs. Local residents could see significant new employment and economic activity tied to Navy work.

3. Pensacola restaurant Fuji Sushi and Grill closing for good (pnj.com) — Fuji Sushi & Grill on North Davis Highway is closing permanently on Aug. 18 after just over a year serving Pensacola diners with sushi, Korean BBQ, hot pot, and ramen. Owners say they're grateful to the Pensacola community for embracing their revival of the original Fuji and encourage guests to follow their social media for closure details.
   

4. AAA: Florida Gas Prices Are Slightly Lower Than Last Week (northescambia.com) — Pensacola-area drivers are seeing a slight break at the pump, with local lows around $3.36 per gallon at warehouse clubs and several other stations. AAA reports Escambia County's average has dipped to $3.57, a few cents cheaper than last week and last month, even as oil prices edge higher statewide.
   

5. NAS Pensacola transfers 900-plus boxes of artifacts to University of Georgia (weartv.com) — Naval Air Station Pensacola has shipped more than 900 boxes of archaeological artifacts and records to the University of Georgia for professional curation and long-term preservation. The move brings the base into federal compliance while safeguarding prehistoric and historic materials uncovered on the installation. Volunteers from NAS Pensacola and UGA handled the large-scale transfer together.
