From Wood Treatment To Commerce Park: How Mount Dioxin Formed City of Pensacola (opgov.news) — A long-contaminated Superfund site off North Palafox, once dubbed "Mount Dioxin," has finally been cleaned enough to be marketed as an industrial and commercial hub just minutes from downtown Pensacola, the port, airport, and interstates. After decades of toxic soil, relocations, and federal oversight, about 70 acres are now considered ready for reuse, with local leaders eyeing new jobs and business growth for Escambia County.
   

2. Shumaker Advisors' Alan Suskey Helps Secure $9 Million State Investment for Pensacola Shipbuilding Expansion (legalreader.com) — Pensacola has secured a $9 million state investment to expand shipbuilding infrastructure at the Port of Pensacola, tied to Birdon America's new Southeastern headquarters. The $275 million project is expected to create about 2,000 manufacturing and related jobs, boost the city's role in Navy and defense production, and deepen partnerships with UWF, Pensacola State College, and IHMC.
   

3. FDOT orders removal of license plate readers from state rights-of-way, highways (weartv.com) — Pensacola drivers will soon see many license plate cameras removed from state roads after Florida's transportation department ordered all such readers taken down within 30 days. Pensacola Police say they'll comply but worry about losing a key tool for finding missing people and stolen cars, while privacy advocates in the region are celebrating the move as a win for civil liberties.

West Florida football ranked for first time as a Division I program (wkrg.com) — Pensacola's own UWF Argos football team has cracked the national FCS rankings at No. 25 after upsetting No. 16 Southern Illinois in their first-ever Division I game. The home win also earned defensive end Byron Puryear conference defensive player of the week honors as the Argos head into their first United Athletic Conference road matchup.
