2 Arrested, 66 Slot Machines Seized At Illegal Gambling Operation: Sarasota Sheriff
A man and a woman were arrested for running an illegal gambling operation in Sarasota after a months-long investigation, deputies said.

SARASOTA, FL — Two people were recently arrested for operating an illegal gambling operation in Sarasota, authorities said.
Mohamed Belyaquot, 52, and Mabielka C. Cumbrera, 45, were charged with keeping and maintaining a gambling house and possession of slot machines, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Belyaquot was taken into custody on Thursday at Spin 24/7 at 5709 S. Beneva Road, while Cumbrera was arrested at her Sarasota home.

The arrests followed a months-long investigation into several illegal gambling operations in Sarasota County in cooperation with the Florida Gaming Control Commission, the sheriff’s office said.
During the execution of the search warrant at Spin 24/7, a total of 66 slot machines and U.S. currency were seized from the business.

Prior to the arrests, SCSO issued a cease-and-desist letter to the business in April 2025, the agency said.
