Reward in Dog Killing Case Rises to $20,000

The Humane Society of the United States has stepped forward with an additional $5,000.

Information that leads to an arrest in the beating death of Foxx the Pomeranian is now worth $20,000.

The newly increased number comes courtesy of a reward now being offered by the Humane Society of the United States. The national organization announced its intent to assist in the case Thursday.

“It takes an especially depraved person to beat an innocent dog to death and then brag about it,” said Kate MacFall, the society’s Florida state director, in a media release. “We are hopeful that this reward will help bring forward anyone with information about this heinous crime.”

The search for Foxx’s killer began when the 13-year-old Pomeranian’s body was found near its home earlier this month. A handwritten note was taped to Foxx’s body. That note read: “WE BEAT IT 2 Death lol! HAHAHA!”

The incident sparked a manhunt for the person or people responsible for Foxx’s death. An initial reward of $3,000 was offered in the case. Earlier this week, it was announced the award had climbed to $15,000. The humane society’s decision to add $5,000 increased the pot to its current amount.

“While we always encourage animal owners to be cautions with leaving their pets unattended, we have no reason to believe that other dogs are at risk at this time,” the agency wrote on Facebook.
