108 Speeding Tickets, 9 DUIs, 124 Warnings: Wrong-Way Enforcement Results

The Florida Highway Patrol had a busy weekend in the Tampa Bay area.

The Florida Highway Patrol has announced the results of a four-day enhanced enforcement campaign designed to discourage wrong-way driving on Tampa Bay area roads.

With the number of wrong-way driving incidents and deaths mounting, the patrol has been beefing up its presence on local roads. The hope is to not only prevent wrong-way driving incidents, but also to curb other dangerous driving behaviors.

The second of three planned enhanced enforcement efforts took place Nov. 13-16 with a focus on limited access roadways in Hillsborough County. In addition to troopers assigned to the region, 15 extra officers from other parts of the state turned out to help with the November enforcement.
