Troopers Launch 'Intensive Patrols' to Stop Wrong-Way Drivers
The first of three planned intensive enforcement efforts begins Thursday.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers from around the state and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies plan to join forces this week to crackdown on wrong-way drivers.
The first of three planned intensive patrols begins Thursday.
So far, 11 people have died in 2014 on Tampa Bay area roads as a result of wrong-way driving incidents.

“And, there has been an alarming increase in wrong-way driving arrests for impairment,” the highway patrol said in a media release about the intensified patrol. “Just about all of these crashes were caused by drivers who were impaired.”
Details about the enhanced enforcement effort have not yet been released. Troopers have said, however, they plan to target impaired drivers.
