Dropped Gun Leads to Arrest at Lightning Game
A St. Petersburg man with a concealed weapons permit faces a minor charge in the kerfuffle.

Hockey playoff season also seems to be a busy time for Tampa Police.
Officers announced an arrest of a Lightning fan during Wednesday night’s game at the Amalie Arena. It seems while the Bolts were busy winning game three in their round two series against Montreal, a man accidentally dropped a gun out of his pocket in a restroom.
The gun was found by someone else, who notified police.

When a police officer confronted the man, he told her he did have a gun and a concealed weapons permit. Permit or not, bringing a gun inside a sport event is a violation of the law, Tampa Police noted in an email to media.
Lucas Cassidy, 27, of St. Petersburg was charged with a second-degree misdemeanor. Tampa Police say he somehow slipped through security with the gun in tow.

While a concealed weapons permit allows people the right to carry in a number of places, there are restrictions. The police department says public sporting events, schools, courtrooms, polling places, government buildings, police stations and jails are among the exceptions.
Last week, a Michigan woman was charged with arson after being accused of trying to set a Lightning flag on fire during the team’s matchup against the Red Wings.
