The system has since gone through bankruptcy and been acquired by Humana's CenterWell, while federal officials say the case underscores how "upcoding" can inflate costs and why new Medicare rules now tighten documentation requirements.

Heirs have 'no interest' in dead mother's home in The Villages (villages-news.com) — A neglected home in the Village of Hadley is headed for district-maintained yard work after heirs told officials they have no interest in their late mother's mortgaged property. Following complaints about overgrown grass and weeds, CDD 7 supervisors gave seven days for compliance before a contractor begins $250-per-visit maintenance to keep the Villages neighborhood in shape.
   

3. DUI suspect takes car on destructive ride through golf course in The Villages (villages-news.com) — A 69-year-old Lakeside Landings resident is accused of drunkenly driving her Acura onto the Palmer Legends championship course in The Villages, causing about $10,000 in damage before being arrested. Deputies say she was so impaired they skipped standard field tests, and she now faces DUI and property-damage charges after refusing a breath test at the Sumter County Detention Center.
   

4. Couple in The Villages ordered to repaint home due to illicit color usage (villages-news.com) — A Duval couple in The Villages has been ordered to repaint their Chateau Way villa after choosing an unapproved color without Architectural Review Committee approval. Community Development District 7 supervisors gave them 30 days to comply or face an initial $150 fine and ongoing $50 daily penalties until the home meets deed restrictions.
