Good news stories in GA this week include pandemic relief in Cobb County, selfies with World Series trophy in Cartersville and summer jobs.
GEORGIA — Not all news is sad or serious. There’s more happening in the world which is why Patch wanted to take the opportunity to point out some of the lighter good news that has taken place over the past week throughout our Georgia Patch sites.
Those stories include DeKalb County creating 800 virtual summer jobs for teens and young adults; a second round of rental assistance for pandemic relief in Cobb County is now available; take a selfie with the Braves series trophy in Cartersville; and Gwinnett County summer youth police program is accepting applications .

DeKalb Creates 800 Virtual Summer Jobs For Teens, Young Adults
The DeKalb Virtual Career Academy, a paid five-week jobs training program, will provide 800 internships to DeKalb residents ages 14 to 24. Final selections will be emailed no later than April 29.

Second Round Of Rental Assistance Available For Pandemic Relief In Cobb
More rental assistance will soon be available to Cobb County residents impacted by the COVID pandemic. Cobb's nonprofit partners have now reopened their application portals and phone lines.
Take Selfie With Braves Series Trophy When Tour Visits Cartersville
See Atlanta's World Series trophy up close and personal when it visits Cartersville in June as part of a 151-stop tour of Braves Country. It's one of 151 stops planned as part of the Braves' World Champion Trophy Tour.
Gwinnett Summer Youth Police Program Taking Applications
The Youth Police Academy is for Gwinnett County middle school and high school students. They will get classroom and practical experience.
Cobb Schools Name Athletic Director Of The Year Winner
Lassiter Athletic Director Scott Kelly has been named as Cobb Schools' Athletic Director of the Year. The Tim Crunk Cobb County School District Athletic Director of the Year Award was established in honor of Crunk, a long-time educator, and administrator for Cobb Schools.
Cherry Street's Spring Beer Fest Returns Saturday At Halcyon
More than 70 beers will be offered on Saturday at the Cherry Street Brewpub Beer Fest at Halcyon. Tickets are available online.
