Rapper Young Thug Taken To Hospital Amid RICO Trial: Report

The rapper is one of several others indicted in a RICO case in Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA — Rapper Young Thug, who is at the center of a monumental RICO trial in Atlanta, was taken to a local hospital Thursday, Atlanta News First reported.

The nature and status of his condition are unknown.

The trial against Jeffery "Young Thug" Williams' and Young Slime Life, recently began after prosecution accused YSL of being a criminal street gang. More than 20 co-defendants were initially arrested in the case last year, but several have taken plea deals in recent months.

Defense attorneys argue YSL is a moniker for Williams' label, Young Stoner Life, Atlanta News First reported. Jury selection in the case began on Jan. 5 and has been ongoing since then.

Williams is facing eight counts of Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations charges. He has been incarcerated since May 9, 2022, with his bond being denied three times, Rolling Stone reported.

Among the defendants who have pleaded guilty thus far are known rapper Sergio "Gunna" Kitchens and Williams' brother, Quantavious Grier, according to media reports. Kitchens entered an Alford plea.

Williams is known for hits "Lifestyle" and "Thief in the Night." His song, "Go Crazy," with singer Chris Brown spent 52 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. He has three No. 1 hits and six top 10 hits.
