City officials say federal cost-share changes are cutting Augusta's share, helping fund work on traffic signals, retention ponds, cemetery buildings, vehicles, sidewalks, and other public assets still being restored.
   

2. Augusta may get nonstop Chicago flights. Here's what to know (augustachronicle.com) — Augusta Regional Airport has secured an $800,000 federal grant to pursue nonstop service to Chicago O'Hare, potentially adding a major new route for local travelers. The money will reimburse revenue guarantees and marketing once a grant agreement is signed, but flights can't be booked yet while the airport and airline finalize plans.

North Augusta couple charged in Augusta woman's killing in Harrisburg (theaugustapress.com) — An Augusta woman was killed Friday at her Watkins Street home in Harrisburg, and a North Augusta man is charged with her murder while his wife faces related charges. Investigators say license-plate cameras and fingerprints tied the couple to the victim's stolen SUV, and local officials confirmed the victim previously worked for the City of Augusta and Augusta State University.
   

4. Local tax fraudster wrote about redemption. Now she's back in jail. (theaugustapress.com) — A woman once at the center of a major Augusta tax-fraud case is back in the local jail, now accused of felony property damage involving her boyfriend's truck. Her story, long tied to Augusta's federal courthouse, highlights how a prior million‑dollar fraud conviction could significantly raise the stakes of this newer, smaller alleged offense.
   

5. Six face trafficking charges after Operation Fourth Take (wjbf.com) — Several Augusta residents are among six people arrested after a multi‑day undercover child‑exploitation sting based in Grovetown. Investigators say hundreds of adults expressed interest in meeting a supposed child for sex, and the six who traveled to arranged locations now face trafficking charges and are being held in the Columbia County Detention Center without bond.
