Go Green at the Office With a New Paper Policy
A paper policy can help your office trim costs and save the environment.

Cutting down on the amount of paper used at the office helps trim costs and save the environment. So, think about implementing a company-wide paper policy. Here are a few Eco-friendly tips to get you started:

It's important to raise awareness of environmental issues and educate your staff members on the positive effects of “green” practices. Use stats your employees can connect with. If they are compelled to make a difference, your new paper policy will be welcomed with open arms.
2. Change the Print Settings

Designate a scrap paper drawer in the printer for employees to use when printing the not-so-important documents such as emails or written material for proofreading purposes. You can change your print setting default to 2-sided printing. Just make sure to train your staff on print setting guidelines and enable them to print single-sided if needed.
3. Sign Up for Online Bill Pay
Ask members of your finance department to sign up for online bill pay. This will reduce the number of checks cut manually, avoid snail-mail statements and supply you with electronic receipts.
4. Spruce-up the Kitchen
You can make changes in the employee break area by using recycled paper towels and reusable dishes like coffee mugs, plates and bowls. You can also set up recycle bins to promote recycling. Recycle bins are a great catch-all for cans, water bottles, and plastic silverware in the kitchen area.
5. Use Recycle Bins
Place recycle bins around the office to encourage and remind staff to recycle paper, plastic, glass, and cardboard. Put them in convenient areas to keep it simple for employees to recycle. You can place bins next to the paper shredder and in workspace areas where employees gather.
Bottom line... keep it simple, convenient and fun. Don't make employees go out of their way to recycle. The easier it is, the faster staff will feel encouraged to change their ways.
