Civil War Holiday at McDaniel Farm
Step back in time to experience the holidays during the Civil War through a living history demonstration at McDaniel Farm

The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center (EHC) invites you to step back in time and experience Christmas during the 1860s through a living history demonstration. Join Union and Confederate troops on the front lines and on the home front at the annual Civil War Holiday at McDaniel Farm on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The program will take guests back in time to 1862 at McDaniel Farm as Daniel and A.W. McDaniel are on furlough to spend Christmas with the family. Visitors will engage in a drill with Civil War soldiers, visit their camp sites, participate in bayonet practice and encounter a mock skirmish.
Guests can also make traditional holiday ornaments for the soldiers’ tree and their tree, discover the art of blacksmithing, watch how soldiers prepared meals, hear stories from a Confederate sailor, enjoy the sounds of the season with special music, as well as participate in a festive hay ride.

Program fees for the Civil War Holiday are $5.00 for ages 13 and up and $3.00 for ages three to 12. Children two and under and EHC members are free. Guests can pre-register online at www.gwinnettEHC.org or pay at the gate the day of the event.
Event parking is available on-site. Food will be also be available for purchase during the event from the Atlanta Burger Truck. McDaniel Farm is located at 3251 McDaniel Road, Duluth, Ga., 30096.
