One Person Injured in Early Morning Fire in Buford

One people was hurt, but not seriously, in an early morning house fire near Buford.

Gwinnett Fire spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the man sustained an arm injury while exiting the house and was taken to the hospital (non-emergency) for treatment.

The fire happened shortly after midnight in the 4500 block of Thompson Mill Road, near Interstate 985.

In all, three adults were displaced by the fire, but did not request Red Cross assistance.

Rutledge said a passerby who banged on the door to alert the residents also reported the fire around 12:24 a.m.

Crews found flames coming from the front-right corner of the single-story house. It appears to have started outside of the home and extended into a bedroom through the exterior wall. The fire was contained to one room.

Firefighters had the blaze under control at 12:45 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
