• Middle Georgia middle school athletes shine at state track meet (41nbc.com) — A standout performance from Byron Middle School highlighted Middle Georgia’s showing at the state middle school track championships, where Olivia-Rose Moreau won the long jump with a 16-foot, 10.5-inch leap. She and relay teammates from Houston, Peach, and Bibb counties earned multiple podium finishes, including a girls 4×200-meter state title, against nearly 2,000 athletes statewide. 
• Macon restaurant's AC units robbed for copper, destroyed for the third time (13wmaz.com) — A string of copper thefts from air conditioning units at a Macon sandwich shop highlights a broader problem that Byron’s police chief says is common across Central Georgia. He notes that as copper prices rise, thieves increasingly target AC units, leaving businesses and homeowners with repair bills far higher than the metal’s value. Local residents are enclosing units and adding cages, but many still report repeated hits.
