Accused Drug Dealer Indicted On Trafficking Charges

Authorities say Abdur-Rahim Drinkard was one of the main drug suppliers to The Cut, and was bringing drugs into Cherokee County.

CANTON, GA -- A Canton man accused of supplying drugs to an area of the city has been indicted on trafficking charges.

A Cherokee County grand jury indicted Abdur-Rahmin Drinkard of Canton one one count each of trafficking in heroin, trafficking in meth, trafficking in cocaine, possession of a Schedule IV substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than an ounce and violation of the state's Controlled Substances Act, court records show.

Drinkard came on law enforcement's radar when a resident passed along a tip expressing concerns about possible drug activity in an area of Canton.

After receiving the information in early November 2016, Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad agents began conducting surveillance the area in an effort to locate the person of interest described to them.

The man, later identified as Drinkard, was located near "The Cut," an area north of the Canton city limits where "small user level drug transactions have been reported for many years," CMANS said.

The Canton resident also had a handgun in his possession, authorities previously told Patch. Drinkard is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Cherokee County Superior Court at 9 a.m. April 13.
