Active Shooter Seminar Set For Wednesday

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office's event will be held at Revolution Church in Canton.

CANTON, GA -- The Cherokee Sheriff's Office will host another installment of a Civilian Response To Active Shooter Events seminar.

The public is invited attend the event, which will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 22 at Revolution Church.

This CRASE seminar will be taught by Major Joe Perkins and deputy Jeremy Herrin of the Cherokee Sheriff's Office.

The course is based upon the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy that was developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University. Instructors will teach material designed to provide strategies and guidance on how to survive an active shooter event.

Children are welcome to attend, but parental guidance is strongly recommended, as some of the presented material will contain scenes that are sensitive to some viewers. Seating is limited, and will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

Revolution Church is located at 125 Union Hill Trail in Canton.
