Author Explores Canton History Through Photographs

Author and Canton resident Rebecca Johnston on Tuesday will explore the history of Canton through photographs from her new book, Canton (Images of America).

The Cherokee County Historical Society will host a history program dedicated to the book at 7 p.m. June 16 at the Rock Barn, which sits at 658 Marietta Highway in Canton.
Many of the photographs are from private collections and span the early 1800s to 1960s. Autographed copies of the book will be available for $21 and proceeds will benefit the Historical Society’s educational programs.

During the program, the Historical Society will also celebrate the new patio at the Rock Barn. The patio was made from the bricks taken from the historic Bell’s Store in Buffington, which was demolished last July.
