Canton Double Murder Suspect Captured In New York
Akilee Zakee Wilson, 17, who is charged in connection to the June 25 fatal shootings, was located in a Staten Island housing development.

CANTON, GA -- The young male who has been on the run for more than two months following a double homicide near downtown Canton has been captured in New York. The New York/New Jersey U.S. Marshal Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended 17-year-old Akilee Zakee Wilson around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 in a Staten Island housing development, the Canton Police Department said.
U.S. Marshal agents contacted Canton police detectives to inform them of their discovery. These investigators are now working with the Cherokee County District Attorney's Office and New York authorities to extradite Wilson back to the Peach State.
Arrest warrants were issued in July for Wilson, who is charged with two counts each of felony murder and aggravated assault in connection to the June 25 shooting on Crisler Street near Jefferson Circle in Canton (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts.
