Former Cherokee High Student Killed in Marble Plant Accident

Kevin Voyles, 28, died Monday when falling stone crushed him at the Georgia Marble plant in nearby Pickens County.

A fund has been created to help the family of a former Cherokee High School student killed earlier this week in a work-related accident.

Residents can make donations to the Kevin Voyles Family Donations GoFundMe, which will go towards wife Kim Voyles and children, Kalia and Kasen Voyles.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Voyles, 28, was operating a machine at the Georgia Marble — a marble fabrication plant in Tate where workers cut marble from its quarry into sections used for countertops — on Monday when several slabs of marble fell on top of him.
