Historic Preservation Awards Banquet Scheduled For March 16

The Cherokee County Historical Society's 24th annual event will feature Julie Arnold of Lord Aeck Sargent as guest speaker.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee County Historical Society will host its 24th Annual Historic Preservation Awards Banquet next week in Canton. The event is set for Friday, March 16 at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center.

This year's featured speaker will be Julie Arnold, a senior associate in the historic preservation practice area of Atlanta-based firm Lord Aeck Sargent, who will discuss Hardman Farm, the Chesser Williams House and the Jones Building located in Downtown Canton (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. The annual banquet showcases historic preservation success stories around Cherokee County. The Historic Preservation Awards Banquet honors property owners in Cherokee County who have had outstanding success in preservation. More than 100 properties have been honored over the last two and a half decades.

The event gets underway at 7 p.m., and tickets for the banquet (which includes dinner) are $25. There will also be a cash bar. Tickets can be purchased at www.rockbarn.org or by calling 770-345-3288. Guests are asked to RSVP by March 13.
