Police: Drugs Suspected in Teen's Fatal Stabbing

Investigators say Canton resident Olivia Smith claimed she was under the influence of an unknown drug.

Cobb County police believe drugs were a key factor in the stabbing death of an Acworth teenager over the weekend, court documents show.

Canton resident Olivia Nicole Smith, 18, who is being held on felony murder charges, told investigators that she and her cousin Abbey Hebert had smoked what Smith believed was marijuana shortly before getting into an argument inside Hebert’s Acworth home on the morning of Nov. 14, according to a search warrant.

The argument got physical, prompting Smith to retrieve a kitchen knife, stab Hebert and chase the wounded victim outside the home, the warrant states.

A witness saw the struggle outside and told investigators he saw Smith on top of Hebert, stabbing her multiple times.
