The recent heavy rains "washed away concrete barriers in the construction zone," which forced crews to close westbound lane to motorist so they could repair the damage, said Georgia DOT spokesperson Mohamed Arafa.
"Our guys have been out there to take care of it," he added.

The westbound lane of the road was closed around daybreak and reopened just before 11 a.m. This wasn't the first time heavy downpours have resulted in the closure of the road in the same area.
In February, heavy rains washed away a portion of the westbound lane and shoulder of S.R. 108 near its intersection with S.R. 20.
