Victim, 17, Identified in Fatal Canton Rollover Wreck
Funeral services for Alexander Robert Carson, 17, will be held on Saturday at First Baptist Canton.

The Cherokee County coroner has identified the young man who was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident in Canton.
Earl Darby said the victim has been identified as Alexander Robert Carson, 17, of Canton. Darby said the teenager’s cause of death was listed as “generalized trauma.”
Officers with the Canton Police Department responded to the crash around 3:50 p.m. Oct. 1 along Bluffs Parkway just south of the entrance to the Cherokee County Administration Building.

Emergency responders and officers arrived onto the scene and found an overturned white Ford Explorer in the roadway, Canton police said in a press release.
It appears the SUV left the roadway and overturned, ejecting the driver at the scene, spokesperson Lt. Jeff Tucker stated. The teenager was found unresponsive near the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Tucker said on Thursday the accident remains under investigation.
Cherokee County School District spokesperson Barbara Jacoby said Carson is a former student of Cherokee High School and counselors were made available to students at the school.
Funeral services for Carson will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 4 at First Baptist Canton with Dr. George Anderson and the Rev. Chris Page officiating. The family will accept friends from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Darby Funeral Home.
Carson is survived by mother and father, Rob and Stephanie Carson of Canton; grandparents, Bobby Carson of Woodstock, Tim and Sharon Glaze of Talking Rock and Ronnie Darby of Kingston; brothers and sisters, Jacob, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Brianna and Mackenzie Carson, all of Canton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
According to the Cherokee Youth Football Association’s Facebook page, Carson was a former player with the association and was actively involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and JROTC while he attended Cherokee.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alex Carson Fund at the First Baptist Church Canton, 1 Mission Point in Canton. Donations can also be made to the Alex Carson Family Fund to help with funeral expenses at any Wells Fargo bank location.
