Defendants Sentenced To Life In Parking Lot Murder

Robert Ashley Carr, 36, was found shot to death in a parking lot in Cartersville.

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- Three defendants who were charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a Bartow County man in 2015 have been sentenced for their part in the crime.

Bartow County Superior Court Judge Suzanne Smith sentenced both Arrick Deandrae Camps and Bernard Mario Dixon to life in prison plus five years with the possibility of parole, said Cherokee Judicial Circuit Senior Assistant District Attorney Sharon M. Fox.

Both men were convicted in April 2015 of killing 36-year-old Robert Ashley Carr of White. The sentence was handed down on May 31, Fox added.

Elizabeth Morgan Kelley, another defendant in the case, was also sentenced on Tuesday in her part in the case.

Kelly, who pleaded guilty to party to a crime of armed robbery and aggravated assault, was sentenced by Smith to a total of 40 years, 10 of which she will have to serve in prison.

She will also have to pay a $1,000 fine, dole out $10,518 in joint and several restitution, have no contact with Carr's family and testify truthfully in any remaining trials or proceedings, Fox stated.

Bartow sheriff’s deputies and investigators were dispatched around 6:45 a.m. April 7, 2015, to 11 Johnson Lane NE/1595 U.S. 411 — Woodright Industries — in response to a man found lying in the parking lot.

Carr was unresponsive upon discovery and was pronounced dead. The incident was later determined to be a homicide, as Carr’s body had several gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office said.

Two additional residents were also arrested and charged in connection to Carr's murder. Rebecca Leeann Dover is charged with felony murder while Stephanie Fawn Gardner faces one count of party to the crime of felony murder.

The district attorney's office expects Dover to enter a guilty plea on June 13, and Gardner's case is still pending, Fox stated.
