'Walk With Jonny': Fundraiser Created To Help Shooting Victim
Jonathan Meyer is recovering in the hospital after he was shot while napping inside his truck Monday morning at QuikTrip in Adairsville.

ADAIRSVILLE, GA — A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help a Florida man who was seriously injured in a shooting early Monday morning outside QuikTrip in Adairsville.
The fundraiser, titled "Walk with Jonny," is hoping to raise $250,000, which will be used to pay for medical expenses, recovery efforts and any other needs for Jonathan Meyer, 30, of Clearwater, Florida.
As readers recall, Meyer was traveling from Tennessee to Florida when he decided to pull over at QuikTrip on Ga. 140 in Adairsville to rest his eyes before getting back on the road again. According to Adairsville police, he was approached by three people, Michael Sean Conner, Destany Marie Schubert, and Kristy Lynn Davis, who tried to rob him.

Meyer was airlifted to a hospital where he had to undergo a six-hour surgery to repair damage to his lung, spine and spinal cord. As of Friday afternoon, only $8,447 has been raised by the family.
"Jonny thankfully survived surgery and is now left hoping to walk again," the page goes on to state. "He has many months of therapy ahead of him once he is released from intensive care. Our hope and prayers are that Jonny will be able to make a miraculous recovery that will enable this sweet man to return to the life he once had enjoying the things he most loves, and that his family can focus on the love and attention he most certainly deserves. Please help in any way you can in supporting Jonny's treatment and recovery, and we can all walk with Jonny again."
Meyer on Wednesday received a visit from Adairsville Police Chief Mike Jones, who said Meyer is a "wonderful man" who comes from a close-knit family who cares deeply about his prognosis and well-being.
The three suspects were booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery and discharging a firearm within a vehicle towards a person. Davis was arrested Wednesday evening in Ringgold while Schubert was apprehended on Monday in Walker County. For his part, Conner was also arrested on Monday in Marion County, Tenn., following a police chase of a stolen vehicle.
