If your weekend routine includes a run to Costco for a truckload of toilet paper, coffee, cereal and produce, make sure your have a Visa card with you to pay for it all. Costco dropped American Express as its credit card partner this week, and judging by the cranky comments on social media, a lot of people aren't happy about it. Police: Man Who Beat Father To Death Had Served Prison Time

A Buford man who police say beat his father to death with a crowbar and punched a police officer was an ex-convict who had completed a prison sentence for another violent crime last year. Joseph Allen Cook, 40, was sentenced to 20 years for aggravated assault on Oct. 25, 2013 in Troup County, but he served barely more than two years of that sentence in prison. He was released Nov. 23 of last year and was on parole at the time of Wednesday's attack. Cook faces charges of murder and aggravated assault in the death of his father, 68-year-old Larry Cook. >>> Read more.
