Suspected Car Thief Killed: Car Owner Was Visiting Sick Mother
Raheem Scott is being held without bond after he shot and killed a man who was allegedly trying to steal his car near West End Mall.

SW ATLANTA, GA -- A man who shot and killed a suspected car thief was on his way to visit his mother in the hospital when the incident happened on Saturday night.
Police say William Blackwell, 50, attempted to steal Raheem Scott's black sedan while the car was outside an Exxon station on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard near West End Mall.
Scott, 25, was inside the store and when he came out, he allegedly shot Blackwell five times and killed him. He then went back inside the store, asked employees to call 9-1-1, and then turned himself into police.

Now, the AJC is reporting that Scott was on his way to visit his mother, who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Scott's mother, Debra Bryant, said her son has never been in trouble. Both carry guns for safety reasons.

Scott is being held in Fulton County jail without bond. His next court date is April 4.
