57 DUI Arrests, Forsyth Deputy Shares Jan Stats

CUMMING, GA — Deputy Dublin, of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, provided an update and crime statistics Tuesday for January 2018.

Dublin said there were 57 DUI arrests in January. There were 565 traffic accidents and 13 burglaries, down from 32 in December.

"We would like to congratulate Lt. Gregg Boyer on his retirement from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office," said Dublin. "Lt. Boyer has been with us since 1998 and has served as a valuable part of the agency in various rolls. He has worked as a School Resource Officer, a Training Coordinator, Internal Affairs Unit supervisor, Records and GCIC Unit supervisor, as well as Lieutenant at the Courthouse. We are extremely thankful for Lt. Boyer's service and wish him nothing but the very best as he begins his new journey!"

"We received these handwritten thank you cards all the way from Arizona!" said Dublin. "Eleven-year-old Taylor Benedetto and her 8-year-old brother Caleb have been busy writing cards for law enforcement officers since 2015. The pair aspire to be police officers and are on a mission to show their appreciation to their heroes across the country. As of January 1st, they had already reached over 850 departments. The Benedetto siblings, along with their father Leonard, have also started a campaign to raise money for police K9 vests. To date they have generated over $3,150 for the cause. Thank you, Taylor and Caleb! DFC Soto and DFC Dublin, along with the rest of us at FCSO, appreciate all that you are doing."

Dublin said between Facebook and the news media, FCSO has identified all of the suspects in the Tide Challenge, Pampers Caper, and Air Filter crime spree. "We would also like to acknowledge our local businesses that are working with us to try to stop this type of crime. Thank you Publix and Kroger!"

"Meet our newest FCSO recruit, K9 Buzz! Buzz graduated training in December and, along with his partner Corporal Sprague, will serve as a valuable part of our K9 team," said Dublin. "Buzz is certified in tracking missing persons or suspects, evidence and lost property recovery, and narcotics detection. You can also expect to see them working with our school system partners often."

"Earlier this week we held our largest swearing in ceremony since last January, with 11 new employees joining our FCSO family!"
