Lanier Tech Raises Thousands at Fundraiser

The Lanier Technical College Foundation announced it raised more than $22,000 after holding its Second Annual Pheasant Shoot on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Jim Walter’s Farm in Lula, GA.

All proceeds from the Pheasant Shoot go to benefit the Lanier Technical College Foundation’s General Scholarship Fund. The event sold out all 40 of its allotted shooter spots and had over 30 community sponsors/partners to make this one of the college’s most successful fundraising events in its history.

“We are extremely proud of the community support shown for this event in our second year,” said Lanier Technical College President Russell Vandiver.

“With the changes in what financial aid programs will pay for and the cost of attending college rising, the role of the Foundation and private, community support will continue to play a vital part in helping students pay for college.”

The mission of Lanier Technical College is workforce development. With over 3,200 jobs added in the college’s service area since 2011, it is vital that Lanier Tech be able to provide job training and a skilled workforce to fill employers’ needs.

During the 2011-2012 academic year, the Lanier Technical College Foundation awarded 283 students a total of $113,591 in scholarships.
