Cumming Restaurant Rebounds After Failed Inspection
The Indian eatery earned a 90/A on its follow-up inspection, which came nine days after a very low, failing score

CUMMING, GA — An Indian restaurant in Cumming has rebounded dramatically after earning a super-low score on its health inspection last week.
Bawarchi Biryanis, at 1614 Peachtree Pkwy., scored a 90/A on its follow-up inspection on Thursday. That came nine days after the restaurant was hammered with an exceptionally low 36/U during an inspection on Oct. 10.
That initial report listed a host of problems at the eatery, including flies being spotted on cooked chicken and other food and an employee preparing food without first washing hands. There was nothing of the sort found during Thursday's follow-up, though.

Only a couple of relatively small problems, like a leaky hand sink and the wrong kind of sanitizing wipes being used, were cited by inspectors.
Thursday's score was more in line with the restaurant's inspection in May, when it scored a perfect 100/A.

The new score puts Bawarchi Biryanis back in good standing with state health officials. When a restaurant fails an inspection, inspectors return within 10 days to check it out again. If problems from the initial report aren't fixed, that restaurant can have its license suspended until they are addressed.
