Citizens in Cumming and Forsyth County will be heading to the polls today, and it’s up to each and every voter to make sure he or she is as well-informed as possible about all the issues and candidates on the ballot.

Polls will be open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and long lines are anticipated at Forsyth’s polling places. Speaking of polling places, check your most recent voter registration information, as your traditional polling place may have changed since the last time you voted.

For your convenience, you can enter your address on the Georgia Secretary of State’s “My Voter Page” website and confirm your proper polling place for today’s election.

Following the closing of polls at 7 p.m., the Georgia Secretary of State’s office will begin tabulating the results and displaying them online.

In Forsyth County, voters will have two choices to make for the United States Congress and the Upper Chattahoochee River Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor; the remaining Forsyth County candidates are running without opposition.

In Georgia’s 7th Congressional district, which includes Cumming, voters will choose between Republican W. Robert “Rob” Woodall and Democrat Thomas D. Wight. The candidates for Georgia’s 9th Congressional district, which includes part of Forsyth County, are Republican Douglas A. “Doug” Collins and David D. Vogel.

Voters will select either Cale J. Hatch or Leonard Wilbur Ridings to serve as the Upper Chattahoochee River Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor.

State senators Michael Williams and Steve Gooch, State representatives Kevin Tanner, Wes Cantrell, Mark Hamilton, Michael Dudgeon, Geoffrey Duncan, Solicitor General Bill Finch, Forsyth County district commissioners Pete Amos and Todd Levent, and Forsyth County Board of Education members Ann Crow and Kristin Morrissey are all running unopposed.

Forsyth County voters will also cast their ballot on a proposed $200 million bond to tackle several transportation issues in the county. Learn more about the bond and the projects involved here.
