Forsyth County Fire Department Promotes Two and Welcomes Six New Recruits

The ceremony was held at the Central Park Recreation Center Friday night.

celebrated the promotion of two employees and the graduation of six new recruits Friday night.

The ceremony, held in the new banquet room at the , was performed in front of family, friends and fire department staff.

Ed Siggelkow was formally promoted to the rank of captain and Robert Styles was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Siggelkow joined the department in 2006 and now serves as the department’s deputy fire marshal. Styles joined the department in 2001 and currently works at Fire Station 2 in south Forsyth County.

"We could not be more proud of these two individuals and the outstanding service they provide to Forsyth County," said Fire Chief Danny Bowman.

Michael Cochran, Brian Kozikowski, Jonathan Lent, Kevin Maceri, David Marden, and Stephen Tabaka were officially welcomed as Forsyth County firefighters. The six men were part of the only recruit class the fire department had this year.

"Adding these six firefighters to our department increases safety not only for the public but also for the firefighters, as it helps fill vacancies, improving our staffing levels," said Capt. Brian Wilson of the Fire Department’s Training Division.

The recruits completed 12 weeks of rigorous training and education in structural and wildland firefighting; emergency medical response; motor vehicle firefighting and victim extrication; water rescue; and fire service history, traditions and etiquette.

"These new recruits are now ready to begin serving Forsyth County, having successfully completed very thorough and extensive training," said Wilson.

The department now has a total of 126 field suppression personnel.

“We are certainly pleased to add these firefighters to our department, and we recognize and appreciate the support of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners and the citizens of this county for making this possible,” said Bowman. “The Forsyth County Fire Department takes a great amount of pride in serving our residents and businesses. These new firefighters will be a tremendous asset to this county.”
