State Senator To Read To Kids for Georgia Pre-K Week

State Sen. Jack Murphy, R-Cumming, is set to read to students at Kids 'R' Kids No. 38 in Cumming for the third-annual Georgia Pre-K Week on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 9:30 a.m. He joins with more than a hundred state leaders set to read as part of Pre-K Week, which is Sept. 30 through Oct. 4, and celebrates the 20th anniversary of Georgia’s Pre-K program.

“I’m looking forward to joining the students at Kids 'R' Kids as part of Georgia’s Pre-K Week this year,” Murphy said in a press release. “With thousands of Georgia children benefiting from this exceptional program that helps lay down strong foundational building blocks for our students’ future education, I’d like to recognize all the teachers and educational advocates that are the backbone to our state’s Pre-K program.”

Georgia Pre-K Week is sponsored by Voices for Georgia’s Children, Black Child Development Institute Atlanta, Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy, Georgia Association for Young Children, Georgia Child Care Association, Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students, Georgia Family Connection Partnership, Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, Georgia Public Library Service, JumpStart,  Multiple Junior League Chapters, Quality Care for Children, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta and YMCA.
