Teen Killed After Car Strikes Deer

CUMMING, GA -- An 18-year-old from Cumming was killed Tuesday night after a deer hit by another vehicle slammed into his car.
Trenton Basden was driving a Honda Civic eastbound on Ga. 369 at about 8:40 p.m. as another driver in a Toyota Scion was traveling westbound, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
As the two were passing each other, deputies say, the Scion struck a deer.

The deer flew up and to the left, into the eastbound lane, and went through the windshield, striking Basden, a report says.
Basden was killed by impact with the deer.

The sheriff's office said Wednesday that no charges are pending at the time and that the crash remains under investigation.
Deer collisions are a danger in many parts of Georgia. While they are most prevalent in the fall, during deer rutting season, they can happen any time throughout the year.
In December, an 11-year-old boy from Buford was killed when a deer leaping onto the highway caused two vehicles to collide.
