“The blaze caused heavy damage to the consignment boutique and burned a large hole through the floor in the center of the boutique,” Rutledge said in an email. “The adjoining insurance office sustained mostly smoke and water damage.”

It was the second time in less than 4 years that the building has sustained a fire. A fire on June 4, 2011 caused moderate to heavy damage to the building, according to media reports. Lily’s and a gift store resided at the address at the time.
Rutledge said firefighters had the blaze under control at 6:34 a.m.
Firefighters deployed attack hose lines and made immediate entry inside the building to extinguish the fire and conduct a primary search. Crews found fire burning in the basement and on the main-level on the right-side of the building. The area where the fire burned is occupied by the consignment boutique. The fire damage is contained to the inside of the building and may appear deceiving by looking at the outside. Firefighters removed part of the charred debris to the outside to extinguish remaining hot spots. (from Gwinnett Fire news release)
Firefighters had to go through the wall from the insurance business to gain access to the fire in the boutique, Rutledge said.
