Earth Day in Action

There are several upcoming opportunities to celebrate Earth Day in Hiram. Learn more about ways you can go green this spring.

Looking for an opportunity to do something green for earth day or every day?  A wonderful way to reduce your environmental footprint is to reduce the amount of trash that you and your family generate in your home.  There are a lot of ways to do this, including implementing recycling and composting practices.  How do you get started on these two earth friendly activities?  Well, there is an upcoming opportunity for you to learn more from local experts on both topics and even a special event coming up that is aimed at helping you recycle your unwanted electronic items!

Keep Paulding Beautiful, the City of Hiram and Paulding County Extension are hosting a program on the basics of recycling and composting.  On Tuesday, April 16th at 6:30 pm at the Hiram Community Center Keep Paulding Beautiful Executive Director, Tommy Leonard, will share with participants how they can become more efficient recyclers.  He will provide tips on what is recyclable and how to prepare your recyclables for the Recycling Center.

Also presenting will be Marguerite Todd, Paulding County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer, and expert on home composting.  Compost is black gold for the garden and it can help you reduce the amount of waste you are throwing away.  Marguerite makes and uses compost in her own gardens and she will teach you easy ways to do the same.
