Chatt Tech Students Win at District Competition

Jeff Mathis of Dallas was among the top finishers of the Phi Beta Lambda district competition on Feb. 17.

Several students took home honors in the Phi Beta Lambda district competition. The competition was held in conjunction with the 2012 PBL North District Conference at West Georgia Technical College in Waco on Feb.  17.

Among the top finishers were Jeff Mathis of Dallas, Waymon Carr of Marietta, Erick Castro and Jennifer White of Smyrna and Deborah Wilson of Mableton.

“These five students will be competing in those same events at the 2012 State Leadership Conference on April 13-15 at the Westin Atlanta Hotel at Perimeter,” CTC Instructor and PBL Advisor Lisa Houston said in a press release.

Two of the students competed and placed at the state level last year, according to Houston. Castro placed third in state competition in Macroeconomics and went to national competition in Orlando, while Wilson placed fourth in Sales Presentation and Marketing Concepts.

  • Waymon Carr and Deborah Wilson: First Place, Business Presentation
  • Waymon Carr: Fourth Place, Human Resource Mgt.
  • Deborah Wilson: First Place, Marketing Analysis & Decision Making
  • Jennifer White: First Place, Database Design and Application
  • Jennifer White: Third Place, Word Processing
  • Erick Castro: Fourth Place, Microeconomics

The upcoming Georgia PBL State Leadership Conference showcases students competing in business related leadership events including impromptu speaking, future business executive, job interviewing, public speaking and sales presentations.
