Dances of Sorts to Dominate Schedule This Week

Here are some things to know as you begin your Monday.

1. The NCAA tournament bracket has been set, with the first two of the “First Four” games set for Tuesday night. The tournament gets fully under way Thursday.

While Dallas-Hiram Patch does not encourage playing hooky from work, we would like to know where you would go to watch the tournament if you were to do so. What are some good game-day destinations in Dallas and Hiram? We might want to interview some people enjoying the hoops action this week.

2. Something else to mark on your calendar is this Saturday’s Family Alliance of Paulding at Che’ne Rouge in Hiram. For more information on purchasing tickets, contact Linda Verscharen at 770-842-6786.

3. You might have a local restaurant in mind for this week’s tournament viewing, but if you’re looking to grab a bite today or later this week, you may want to . The scores of the 11 establishments checked last week received marks of 98/A to 86/B.

4. Speaking of the calendar, today is March 14, 3-14, or as it is known in the math community, “Pi Day,” in honor of pi (), the irrational number used in calculating the area of a circle and other nifty formulas. So celebrate it any way you want, perhaps by ordering a nice, round pizza, or perhaps saving room for pie for dessert, or maybe just by showing your appreciation for all things circular.

5. Finally, today’s weather could be dominated by rain and thunderstorms, says the National Weather Service. There is a chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., with showers and thunderstorms possible after 2. If the wet stuff doesn’t fall earlier, we’re likely to see it sometime after 8 p.m. Today’s high temperature will be about 74 degrees; tonight’s low, just under 50.

Tuesday’s forecast so far seems to be like Monday’s rain-wise, but a little bit cooler, with a high in the mid 60s expected.
