Chasing the Dream 5K Race

Dream Makers Youth Foundation is holding its inaugural Chasing the Dream 5K Race to take place on Saturday, May 19, on the Silver Comet Trail at Homer Leggett Memorial Park in Hiram.

The race begins at 8 a.m.; registration opens at 7:30. There are several divisions, from 10 & under to 65 & older, and a wheelchair division.

Registration is $25; a registration form is attached.

Proceeds from the event will help purchase a vehicle for Chad Crews, a 20 year-old diagnosed with Arthrogryposis, whose wish is to one day drive a vehicle. Crews' condition is characterized by multiple joint contractures and muscle weakness, so he would require an evaluation, a heavily modified vehicle, and extensive training to drive—expenses his parents are unable to afford on their own.

The race is open to anyone who wants to hit the trail—runners, joggers, walkers, and even those bound to a wheelchair.
