Fines Against ALDI Builder Reportedly Dropped

Though the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration in during the construction of the ALDI grocery store in Hiram, the firm reportedly no longer faces thousands of dollars in fines.

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Woodland Interiors Inc. in late June agreed to a settlement that will have the company paying no fines to OSHA. The government entity .

Hiram’s ALDI on Wendy Bagwell Parkway, and Woodland Interiors was responsible for installing insulation to exterior walls. OSHA inspected the work in December as part of the agency’s National Emphasis Program and Local Emphasis Program on falls in construction.

Woodland was cited for allowing employees to work from an aerial lift about 18 feet from the ground without fall protection. That citation could have led to a $38,500 penalty. The remaining $4,900 penalty the firm could have sustained was tied to a citation for failing to provide fall protection for employees working from the roof of the building while installing siding at heights up to 15 feet.

The citations along with the fines were vacated, the Chronicle reported.
