She was born on July 18, 1929 in Hiram, GA. to E.N. “Hoke” McMichen and Annie Mae Thompson McMichen who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Cecil E. Horne, Sr. and brother , Charles McMichen. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and retired from Owens Illinois as a secretary.
