GBI: Dallas Cops Shot At, Tased Man Who Tried To Run Them Over

The bureau will investigate exactly what happened and turn its report over the the district attorney.

DALLAS, GA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an incident in which Dallas Police officers shot at and tased a driver on Saturday.

The incident happened shortly after 11 p.m. when officers responded to the 200 block of Park Street regarding a hit and run.

Officers arrived and identified the suspect's vehicle.

The man, identified as 25-year-old Cody McKenzie, initially complied, according to the GBI, but as officers approached the vehicle, he restarted it and allegedly tried to run over the officers.

Two officers fired multiple times, striking the vehicle, which wrecked in the 1500 block of Industrial Boulevard North in Dallas.

The officers then used a Taser to take McKenzie into custody.

McKenzie was taken to Kennestone Hospital for a wound to his right arm. He was treated, then released into the custody of the Dallas Police Department.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation to determine exactly what happened. Then the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Paulding County District Attorney's office.
