Road Maintenance in Paulding This Week

Transportation officials urge drivers to be cautious in two areas—state routes 6 and 61— that are set to see roadwork occur this week.

Georgia Department of Transportation maintenance crews are slated to repair this week several miles of Paulding County roads.

Weather permitting, workers are scheduled to rebuild the shoulders of State Route 6 between mile markers 2 and 6, and repair the deteriorating asphalt spots on State Route 61, today through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.

GDOT officials say hundreds of their employees and contractors work on dozens of highway, bridge and intersection improvements throughout the state each day, with their work often bringing them and heavy machinery in close proximity to travel lanes.

With 57 GDOT personnel and many more drivers, passengers and contractors’ workers killed in highway work zone accidents since 1973, officials urge drivers to slow down in these construction zones and to remain attentive and cautious.
