Graves Leads House GOP Effort to Restore Open Funding Process

Politico reported recently that U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, is leading an effort to challenge House Republican leadership to abandon the use of massive stopgap spending bills to fund the government, known as continuing resolutions (CRs), and return to an open, regular appropriations process where twelve different bills to fund federal agencies are openly debated and amended.
Nearly 90 House Republicans have signed Rep. Graves’ letter, which says, “Continually governing by CR wastes money, creates massive inefficiencies, and can weaken our national security. This is exactly opposite of the good government initiatives and reforms each of us promised our constituents.”
