Heavy Vehicles Asked To Detour Starting Monday

The is asking those who drive heavy trucks or buses to avoid a portion on Dallas-Acworth Highway starting Monday.

According to a public advisory, the stretch of roadway these drivers should steer clear of is the portion over Picketts Mill Creek—about 1 mile north of Mt. Tabor Church Road. These drivers are being asked to detour while crews perform substructure work on the bridge.

Buses, heavy trucks and any vehicle 10 tons or heavier should take Dallas-Acworth Highway to East Paulding Drive to State Route 92 (Hiram-Acworth Highway) to Dallas-Acworth Highway and reverse.

Emergency responders, regardless of weight, may cross the bridge but should use caution for workers and equipment near and under the bridge.
